sorting apps in home screen

goto /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app and copy the DisplayList.plist to your computer, open up in wordpad. When you open it up you will see "button bar" thats the bottom row icons, below that you will see iconList, they are in the order that you see on the "homescreen" to change them around just move the name of the app you want moved around. Once you get it open and look at it you will understand better.
here is a copy of my DisplayOrder.plist with the calander icon on the bottom row with the dock icons, just for example
