This makes me feel better, didn't really expect anything like this. I think im going to use that $100 to help me buy the new ipod classic :laugh2:
It goes to show you that if you come together as a team on something anything can happen, the thousands of hate mails and forums on this subject is what turned this around, its not the $200 doillars that matters its the principal of the matter, and my $100 dollar rebate will go toward a new iMac which of yesterday I wouldn't support a company like this, my mind has changed, I applaud you Steve for doing the right thing and taking the burn away..

i believe this to be a perfect, simple solution. early adopters should have to pay a little more for having the product first, just not 1.667 times more.

i hope all the a-holes who were so high and mighty and said "that's the price of early adopting" refuse their discounts.
What?

FREE money - no one's convincing me to pass this puppy up!

I was happy with my $600 iPhone, now I'm going to even happier with my $600 iPhone and $100 of Apple goodness to go along with it.

I'm still very angry at Apple. I don't care about having $100 credit at Apple store. What am I gonna buy? $100 worth of headphones? I want my money!

It was about time Apple woke up and did something but I am NOT satisfied, especially by the tone of this letter! Who do you think you are S. Jobs? Do you think we're fools? The way he talks to us makes me angry.

"This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you'll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon."

NO, this is NOT the way it is! Prices go down, but not after 60 days.

WOW... So they are stepping up and doing the right things. AWESOME! You don't know how impressed I am. Yes, the screwed up. Yes, they realized they screwed up and YES they want to fix it.
And you know what-- this will probably increase their sales-- because I am sure many people will actually apply that 100 dollar credit towards purchases OVER 100 dollars....

YAY!
You know that conspiracy theorist would say that this was Steve's master plan. Slash prices, get more publicity for the iPhone (just get the spelling right), then rebate. All leading to more iPhone sales to their early base.

Let's see that next iPhone just dropped to... $299?

You sir, are a piece of work. You are the exception to "the customer is always right" adage. Your the type of customer I would say - we don't need your businesss.

Read my prior post. I will either NOT take the store credit or donate it to a local charity. I don't want "something for nothing" and don't expect "something for nothing" I would find it greedy if i actually went to the store and took the card for my own use because I have a lot of posts saying I was fine with the price cut.
Aren't you just the philanthropist.

Smart move by Apple, they appease most the people they have "wronged" and they still make off with all your money (they're not really losing anything, you have to spend the $100 with them.)

Guess you cant please everyone. God its been 24 hours. Problem found, problem solved. Give me a break already
I think it IS our place to make sure that these companies treat their customers right or pay the price. Maybe this was Steve's idea but judging by his comments- I think some other people at Apple must have convinced him that this was the right thing to do. Either way, Apple came through. And maybe Steve really does think that they need to "do a better job at taking care of our early customers." I won't hold it against them. But if they do something like this again, they know what the response will be like. (I'm not saying they can't lower the prices, etc-- but they need to avoid insults to their loyal customers).

And people who stood up to argue that we were not being treated right by apple-- we should be thanked by those iPhone users who thought we were over-reacting. I'm sure they'll take the $100. They deserve it like the rest of us. and they SHOULD TAKE IT. They were mistreated even if they did not mind or realize it.

now that that's out of the way, can the iMoaners please shut up!
not necessary either. both you and snowcrash need to learn to appreciate other people and their feelings. just because this is a forum doesn't mean that you need not have manners.

Steve had to have been getting pressure, especially from heads of credit card companies. Thank God it's something and at least they are being classy about it and offering us something.
For all those who think it's whining and complaining when we are being ripped off please feel free to send me your credit for the Apple store,
it's complaining of an unfairness that will get you anywhere. Even if you don't get anything from it, in America you can have freedom of speech which includes whining and complaining. These forums are for discussion for every side of opinion not just mine, not just yours, but everyone has the right to discuss this whether you call it complaining, or BS, or whining. This forum wouldn't be so great if we only had one sided opinions, but for God sakes don't put people down for expressing and discussing iPhones. Thats why we're here.

No, I just stand by my word. I wasn't upset yesterday and didn't expect anything for being the "cool first kid with an iPhone" so I'm not gonna take something I feel that I don't deserve. Because me taking that money would be like Apple not offering it to you all who are upset.

Trust me I do. Ok I publicly apologize for the SHUT UP already post! That was uncalled for. I just got overly excited about an end to the hundreds of posts of people crying about not getting their money. Bring up valid points, reasons why you feel screwed. But this "Apple OWE me because of bla bla bla" with nothing to really back it up just got tired.

So for everyone I upset with that first real nasty bash I'm sorry. I'm just beside myself with joy that this can finally be over

No certain....

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/openiPhoneletter/

Steve is giving a $100 rebate to ALL iPhone customers for store credit on any Apple product! I think that is very good of them. Read the entire letter because Apple isn't bad after all (PS I never thought they were bad).
Not certain what I'm more annoyed about - the fact it only came after uproar or the fact I ordered and paid for a 160G Classic iPod yesterday. Its in the air now so too late to cancel (could take it back for a refund unopened and save $100 by rebuying the same day..). Its a good job I'm an Apple user and always need something new. Steve is clever here give the rebate and, I guarantee most loyal Apple users will spend more than that when they use it

Can you please stop polluting this thread with your nonsense? Nobody wants to hear your self-righteous ramblings. You were critical of people who complained about the situation, and now you're critical of people who are happy that the situation has been resolved to their satisfaction.

Just go away and ignore any additional threads about this topic. You know what you're going to find, and there are plenty of other things you can talk about.

Thanks.

Apple did this to EVERYONE who bought an iPhone, regardless of whether or not you were offend or not by it-- they acknowledge that they screwed up and need to take care of the original customers better. Don't feel bad about taking the credit... everyone who bought an iPhone deserves it.
