I waited 17 hours and still no activation. Someone on here told me about this. Just take a paper clip and stick it in the small whole in the top of the iPhone, and pop out the SIM card. Go to AT&T and tell them your still not activated and you want a new SIM card. Just put the new SIM card back in your iPhone, place it back in the cradle and let it reconnect to iTUnes. Just start the activation process all over again, and BAM! it will turn it on right away!

YOUR SIMCARD MAY BE DEFECTIVE! GO GET A NEW ONE, LET ME KNOW WHO DOES IT AND IF IT WORKS FOR YOU ALSO!

We waited almost 20 hours and after calls to both AT&T and Apple, both recommended a SIM card change. We just got back and YIPPEEEE it works!

So what would be a normal wait time for the activation email?

That's scary that it seems so many SIM cards are screwed up. Someone's going to get a butt-whoopin.

Just make sure you don't get double billed if/when that original activation goes through.

Changed the SIM, worked for me! It was like a completely new activation experience, saw messages I hadn't seen before! The email came right away, after all the verifying crap it took seconds.

Here was my situation:
In Tallahassee, FL First email received at 7:30pm yesterday. SIM worked in old phone but not in iPhone.

If your situation is anything like this, go get a SIM, i wish i would have sooner.

Same here (7:37pm EST yesterday).

Wish I had changed the card out sooner :p

But happy now, so it's all good!

Worked for me as well. Almost a full 24 hours of waiting, and after I swapped out the SIM card, it took all of four minutes to activate. Thanks guys.
