Strange charging anomaly

If I charge my phone using the plug and USB cord it always charges to 98%, even if left charging overnight. If I charge it from my computer, using the same USB cord, it charges to 100%. A first world problem I know, but I'd just like to know why.

That's odd. Have you tried unplugging it at 98% and plugging it back in. I've seen this issue before with the battery not charging to 100%. Odd one for sure.

I haven't tried plugging it back in as each time I've noticed it was as I unplugged the phone before leaving the house. Thanks for the suggestion I will try plugging it back in the next time I charge overnight using the plug.

Ive seen this sort of on my phone. Its a 5, but its charging and itll get to 98% and kinda hang there. Sometimes it will get to 100 and with it still plugged in after some usage the battery % will go down.

Charged over night got to 98%. Unplugged and plugged in went to 100%. Unplugged started to use an app (currency exchange rate checker) and it dropped back to 98%. The battery lasts as expected during the day, so not a problem just strange.

Have you tried running the phone all the way down the charging. Could just be a calibration issue.

Yes, I did have the issue and solved it by removing the extension cord between the charger and the wall plug. It seems there was too much resistance caused by the extra bit of wire. I'm not electronically gifted at all but I did read that might help and it did.

I have a similar issue. When I charge my phone at home it only gets to 99%. When I charge it at my girlfriends it goes to 100%. After what was posted here I realized, at home I have it plugged into a power strip and at my girlfriends it is plugged in to the wall outlet directly.

That would not be a valid reason why your phone would not charge to 100%. The charger converts the AC wall outlet power to 5 volts DC to charge the phone. The charger can provide that 5v output for an AC input range of 100-240VAC, and 50-60Hz, so it can be used around the world.

I suspect that it was a phone charge calibration issue, and it resolved itself. Either that, or you allowed the phone to discharge its' battery completely, so it could recalibrate the charge percentage.
