Is anyone noticing that it takes really long to sync? Even though I don't update much, every time I do a sync with calendars, addy, and ringtones, it seems to take forever doing so! Anyone have ideas?

My sync usually takes a minute if I don't add many songs to my playlist

i am having huge issues, mainly due to the lack of USB 2 on my powerbook. iTunes keeps freezing and i have to cancel sync and force quit. Its due to video i think... i figure i can wait until black friday... NEW iMAC HERE I COME....

I mean, I have a brand new iMac -- and it still seems to get stuck on "Contacts" or "Calendar" -- not to mention, I don't even have that many songs on it..so I'm not really sure why it's taking so long?

It definitely takes longer to start a sync with my iPhone than it does any of my iPods including the new Classic. I'm not really sure why but once it gets started it moves pretty quickly.

i'm having the same issue...it would now take forever (10 minutes+) to sync. sometimes it would take so long, that i would just cancel the sync. it only start happening after i updated to iTunes 7.5 and 1.12.

Stock phone here... I would have to say syncs are overall faster with 7.5 and 1.1.2, but every now and then I get a slow one. It's usually when syncing calendar or contact changes, so since I'm on Windows I always chalked it up to Outlook --> iPhone translation issues.

i don't know why...but everytime when i try to sync it, it will not stop syncing. the 'sync in progress' screen is always on...even after 1/2 hr. if i stop the sync, no update was made to my iPhone.

It's not uncommon for iTunes to have popped up a conflict notice dialogue box that then goes behind other windows. You don't see it and iTunes is busy waiting for you to click on it.

Always worth looking for this.

i think i figured it out after googling out some info. apparently, there are some issues when iTunes sync your photos from the "My Pictures" folder on windows. so when i changed my iPhone photos folder to a new folder that is not in "My Pictures" folder, it is now syncing like a charm!

hopefully that will help others who are having the same issue.

i still don't know what is up. my sync takes a long time -- it always seems to take a long long time syncing contacts and calendar. it's a stock iPhone 1.1.2 and iTunes 7.5 -- however, it still seems to take long to sync these two (even though not much is changed).

ideas?

Sorry to hijack the thread here, but is it necessary to be using an iPhone on a computer with USB 2.0?

"required disk is not connected" and just stops in mid transfer
then i end up with some currupted music..... any ideas

The time a sync takes always depends on how much data exists on your computer that is not on the iPhone and vice versa.

My syncs (uploading an average of 3 songs per sync a an average of 20 photos) takes about 50 - 70 seconds.

iPhone synching issues

I wanted to let you all know that I was having the same issue with synching my iPhone with just my contacts and address book. I don't have any photos, music or movies yet on my phone so I can't speak for those issues. But, my iPhone synched pretty quickly once I set my Calendar feature on iTunes under the iPhone "Info" tab to sync "selected" calendars and just choose them all. I did this instead of having the "All Calendars" checked.

My contacts and calendars sync much quicker now.
