Mac mini Task Manager in Mac

Sorry, kind of a newbie at Mac. I am trying to force close a program, which I do in Windows using the Task Manager. What is the equivalent in Mac?

You can click on the icon and hold down on it. It will say "force quit" if the program has stopped responding. Or you can hit alt/option, command, and escape.
