There could be a possibility though the sound quality can be cleaned a little and also the sound output can be better.. maybe not by a big difference but a little

I was not pleased with the volume settings on my phone (all of them) and called the Apple folks for support. When we were chatting I asked her if this was hardware or software (or both) that is causing this issue. She said it is hardware and nothing that can be fixed by software updates based on the information she is getting. She also said that this is a recognized problem and they have gotten many calls about this.

Hopefully she just did not have all the information and a software fix will be available at some point to correct the volume, I guess we will see!
This is exactly what I was afraid of.

I have no problem with my volume when playing songs it is only when using the phone function, they can easily do a sound boost via software without distortion. The distortion normally occurs because of bass frequencies at low volumes (which muddles the sound) which you hear more in music than in voice.

If you have distortion with your ipod try a different EQ setting I am using Rock.

still waiting for the update.....

don't believe anything you have heard from another member on this board who claims an Apple store employee knows when updates are released....they are clueless WITH EVERYTHING! Most people here will know about the update before any of the store employees do.

of course it will void your warranty you are hacking the phone....any non authorized modifications to the phone voids it.

I'm guessing: No Update Again.

Well, just like I figured, another rumored update day and yet....NOTHING. Although my phone says it will check for an update again on July 19, so maybe Apple is almost ready to release it. I think by the end of July they will release something.

Just goes to show....don't believe what you read. I saw this coming, which is why I always said "I'll believe it when I see it."

Hope this BS didn't disappoint you guys, or at least a lot of you guys.

Yeah some parts of the phone on the device suck, and they can be fixed by update, just might take longer than a lot of people want to wait, but it still is a great device and I'm happy with it, The updates can only make me happier.

Rumors are called rumors for a reason. The update thing in iTunes has nothing to do with when Apple will release an update. It's just a period for when it checks automatically.

First of all, I wouldn't even call it a rumor.
What someone heard from someone else, that heard it from someone else, is hard to base even a "rumor" on.

Second, the date your iTunes says it's going to check for updates, is just based on the initial date of your installing the program. (i'm pretty sure)
Or, based on the last time it checked, whatever.

Not True

I called 800-my-iphone and they said an update is coming next week to fix some of the bugs including battery issues. Don't know what a software update can do for the battery but we'll see.
I just called them and they denied this saying they're under strict instructions
to never say any updates are coming. They said they will not be informed of an update until it is available.

I'm not sure about that....it used to check for updates once a week, now since Saturday of this past weekend it has been about every 2 days.

BUT....I never said it will come out on July 19. I just said I believe something will be released by the end of July, and if I had to speculate, I would say it will most likely just be a bug fix, since Apple isn't moving too fast on things at the moment.

Which kind of sucks for me if that happens, because I don't have any bugs (or that I've noticed) so it will pretty much not be an update for me at all. Anyways, whatever happens, happens. :(

And you're right, I guess it would be more hear say than rumor. My bad.
