I'm not sure about that....it used to check for updates once a week, now since Saturday of this past weekend it has been about every 2 days.

BUT....I never said it will come out on July 19. I just said I believe something will be released by the end of July, and if I had to speculate, I would say it will most likely just be a bug fix, since Apple isn't moving too fast on things at the moment.

Which kind of sucks for me if that happens, because I don't have any bugs (or that I've noticed) so it will pretty much not be an update for me at all. Anyways, whatever happens, happens. :(

And you're right, I guess it would be more hear say than rumor. My bad.
Even if there is no update AT ALL.
Who cares?
You bought a phone, you got what you paid for.
NOWHERE did Apple promise updates, or "changes" to the phone, in any way.
I don't understand why so many of you people are being so demanding about this stuff. You sound like a bunch of spoiled children complaining about not getting some toy, a week after they just got one! Like one of those kids on "My sweet 16", or whatever it's called, on MTV. Stupid little kids get a Mercedes Benz for their 16th birthday, and they LITERALLY CRY because they got it a day EARLY!?!?!? WTF?!?!
Jesus CHRIST, STOP BITCHING!

LOL. Yeah, that show sucks, it's so annoying.

And incase you didn't notice, "..it still is a great device and I'm happy with it, Any updates can only make me happier." Said in my OP.

Of course, Apple doesn't have to provide any updates, but we both know they will. They wouldn't bother putting a "Check for updates" button in iTunes when your iPhone is connected if they didn't plan to.

Either way, my phone still rules. There's a couple things I wish it did or will do, but regardless....it's still the best phone I've ever had.

can we get a sticky that says something to the effect of update will be listed here then change the title to update v. X.X is now available.

I have seen at least 15 threads with something about an update in the past two days. It becomes a pain to navigate between useful threads and all the update threads when surfing from my not perfect but very functional iPhone.

Yeah, iTunes automatically checks for updates every 7 days.
I think that it checks for updates every 7 days because that is what it is initially set to do when you first download iTunes. If you go into the Apple Software Update program you can change it to check for these updates daily though, that is what i did.

Look at it this way guys, if the iPhone never gets an update, it is still the best phone in the world and will be for years and years to come. Just like nobody, not even Microsoft, can come out with anything half as good as the iPod, even though they have had over 6 years to do it.

why is an update a secret? at last say 1 month 2 monthes somthing to put these rumors to a rest jeez
Because once you go public and say something, then people like you will hold them to every word like it was written into LAW, when they don't make the deadline, due to discovery of some fatal bug or whatever else.

I suspected, with this being such a brand new product, that Apple would have released some kind of update even a very small one during the first week to address one or two major issues. The fact that they have not had to do this is a testament to just how good the product was out the door.

And the longer they go without an update leads me to hope there will be even more stuff updated when it does eventually come.

I'd hate to wait 3 wks for an update then get one that just says "improved display of battery charging indicator."

As I mentioned in a previous post, I went to the genius bar TODAY to discuss my battery never attaining a 100% filled battery "glowy" charge in addition to my never yet having the iPhone register usage stats issue. He informed me that Apple has stopped replacing such phones on the spot, which I was somewhat miffed about. He finally said that if, after the update, I am still having these issues that I could get it replaced.

After I left the store I called 1-800-my-ipho and the women I spoke to was even less helpful. She had no idea what a full charge looked like, she kept quoting the '24 hours mp3 playback, 6 hours internet use, etc.' garbage. :(

Trying a restore now, and then I suppose I will have to wait.

Screw all of you who seduced the techs/managers to replacing yours on the spot ;)
