I would not be surprised if there were no updates until leopard is released in the fall...my reasoning for this is due to rumors of iPhone getting many of the same features as leopard...oh by the way, leopard is INSANE! I have the beta running and there are so many features that could easily be written for iPhone...additionally, you can clearly see how usefull a multitouch lcd would be.

OT: I have an intel core duo Macbook, when Leopard comes out, will I have to buy it or will I get a software update prompt on my computer?

you know, I almost don't want the update for a while now. After spending all day Saturday modding my iPhone, I'm kinda happy with it now. From what I hear, any update would wipe clean any modifications. With my luck, the update will be Sunday.

MacOS updates only modify the operating system/application code, not the user's settings. I would expect the same when the iPhone update comes out.

With my Nokia the first firmware upgrade didn't come out until three months after I bought it. Of course, it was just bug fix software, not functionality really.

So patience appears to be the key here.

My iTunes used to say it would check for an update on 7/22... well its 7/22 today and now it says 7/29

It is set to automatically check every certain period of time. It doesn't mean anything.

I know this has been talked about before but im just letting my frustration out. today i was at an Apple store at the checkout area buy the genius bar and the genius person was talking about the iPhone and I had said " when will see an software update" he replied " Hee hee ha ha I don't know " BULL SH** lol i feel bad i let him have it i popped saying " I Paid $1300 for two iPhones and A month later I have not heard anything except hee hee ha ha i don't know. well as a consumer we should know these things. AHHH come on Apple.

Look for it in October/November. It'll be around the release of Leopard.

I think you'll see another iTunes release before you'll see an update on the iPhone.

Macs normally check weekly to see if an update is available, so I imagine that's all iTunes is doing looking for available iPhone updates.

Thought it would be soon. Hope the folks who said before the end of this month are right. I'm so weary of checking software update.

I know they have to make a priority of some over others and not everyone can be made happy but still, it's time to get the first update out.

Uncle Steve called this morning and the updates are definitely in the works!

I can't give you all the details, but by the time version 3.11 comes out,

it WILL be the best Cappucino maker/Ipod on the market.

What bothers a lot of people, myself included, is the defeaning silence of anything from Apple about any updates/fixes

Any doubt they'll fix stuff? no... but is it going to be two weeks more? two months? longer? nobody knows anything

Yes. Most of the features we're complaining about won't be fixed, if they were going to be offered on the phone the phone would have came with them.
