I have t-mobile right now and a blackberry pearl which I love to death. I used the internet HOURS a day and the edge speed is superfast and loads webpages in about 10 seconds. altogether, I pay about 60 dollars a month for 400 sms 300 weekday minutes unlimited weekend minutes and unlimited data.

I didn't like cingular because I had to pay about 100 dollars for the cheapest data plan which was about 40-50 and even with the lowest amount of minutes! But it seems the iPhone is cheaper now. I want to order it online through the Apple store, but I'm aware that I may have to pay for an activation charge, extra iPhone fees and t-mobile cancellation charge!

I mainly use my phone for the net and sms and I would love to use youtube on it. But I'm guessing after everything is settled in, the iPhone will cost about 523 dollars and change and all those fees estimating high at 300 (i remember my activiation charge with cingular at the time was 100 dollars) I'm talking about 800 dollars here!

I don't make a good amount of money but I would the thing would get an extreme amount of use when I used it, but i'm concerned about wanting to upgrade to a new one everytime a model is announced, which means I might have to switch to a one year plan, pay more and estimating spending 500 dollars a year on another iPhone! I guess I could ebay my old one, but i've never done that before which kind of sucks!

So is it really worth it with what I have to go through to get this?

i would

first off you get the best internet experience on the iPhone over any other phone

the iPhone plan is $60 a month, you get 450 minutes( for $20 more you get 900 minutes and unlimited night and weekend), 5000 night and weekend minutes, 200 sms (if you want more sms its 10 more bucks for 1500 sms), and unlimited data and internet. activation is $36

plus the iPhone is just amazing

just go to the Apple or cingular website and you can find all the rate planes for the iPhone (the iPhone has its own specific plans)

Yeah I already know it's amazing, but is it worth the money sacrifice if you were in the same situation as me? I work in retail so I obviously don't make much money. I don't have much bills to pay though other than my car and phone

go to the Apple store and play with it.. we can't make up your mind for you.. best way is to test it out and see if you like the virtual keyboard

I already know I would like the phone, but the only real concern I have is the edge internet speed, which I heard can take a very long time to load some sites or at least the first time you go to them

if you don't make that much money, then just stick with what you got... 10 seconds to load on t-mobile edge? it would be nice if it were that fast on att... but I don't mind how slow it is

yes, wifi will be fantastic for home use on the bed, but realistically I will get the most benefit from on the go use, when using wikipedia to learn something I see or check a review from something I might buy. Yeah, i'm very indecisive and need a phone to make up my mind for me!

I've been getting around 130Kbps on EDGE. It isn't as bad as all the speculation makes it out to be. It's definitely fast enough to live with. You just have to be a little more patient.

I get 115 on my pearl but the iPhone also has a lot more to load which is why it may still take longer. I guess I still need to think this over because it's not like I don't like my current phone, but the iPhone is just so much more well rounded with the internet youtube better sms and even the notepad looks great which I hate on the blackberry

Yeah the internet experience on the iPhone is absolutely unheard of for a mobile device. I showed my friend the iPhone and he immediately got caught up reading an article on espn.

If you got an extra $600 to blow on a cool toy. YES, do it! If you are looking for a do all phone, NO, don't do it....

I was a T-Mobile/8100 customer myself. Yes, the Blackberry 8100 is sweet but the iPhone is so much better. There is really no comparison. If you like surfing the web with the 8100, you will love surfing with the iPhone. It seems like a lot of money to spend but you get a lot for it. You can help your cause if you sell the 8100 on ebay or something, too.
