Third party apps?

Ok, I'll admit it, I'm not real "computer smart" I wouldn't say I could be compared to a computer idiot though.... I pretty much ignored the whole "third party apps" stuff but I have seen more and more people talking about it. So what exactly does that mean?

Third party apps are basically little programs designed to run within the confines of Safari that do specific tasks.

For example, someone designed a 3rd party app that allows iPhone users to log into aim.

Another example, is a app that is a shopping list to help you determine items you need to pick up.

If you go to the software forum, you can find a lot of posts about apps that are available and sites to learn more.
