This place needs some serious Modding.

I agree with a lot of the things you all have stated. I may be new here, but I am a current MOD over at mac-help.com and I have been a MOD over at two Simpsons online communities. Believe me, I have experience. If you would need a handful of MODS, I would be happy to help out.

I believe this community is a great one because this site has everything an iPhone enthusiast or seeker needs. A forum, store, downloads, News, Reviews, etc, and most importantly, good people with good intentions. Other than we have the trollers.

Chris, this site has lots of potential. I love the "Thank You" system. I hope people start using it. But I really hope that people can put their Mac or PC bashing aside when they are here. It is a pointless fight. I was a PC owner, and still am to an extent, but I prefer my Mac. There are advantages and disadvantages to each platform. This community is going to have both users here. It doesn't matter. We are all here to talk about iPhone and how it relates to our/your current system setup, not about your system individually unless it is deemed in an off topic section.

My point - Stop bashing and let's talk about positive, or give positive constructive thoughts about the iPhone and how it could be made better.

I like to thank everyone that was involved in Modding this place in the last couple of days. In just 48 hours this site has taken a 180 degree turn for the good. It has calmed down a lot and seems to be much easier to read.

Thanks Chris

Im glad you didn't say 360 degree turn. I heard that today and the person didn't understand how it didn't make sense :)

Hey, I think Chris has done an amazing job with this site;however, I do agree that the trolling on this site has increased lately, but I think it is handled very nicely. That being said, I would love to volunteer to help you mod :).

Just an update. As some members have noted, the mod activities have included moving topics. Some have spoke out saying "it is having a negative impact". While this has created a stir primarily in the iPhone category, it's necessary to keep things organized moving forward. It'll look scary while we continue to move posts to their correct category. A quick look at General Discussion and you'll see the positive impact there or in iPhone software. More topics and more notably.... related topics.

Finally, the forum guidelines have been set up. Each guideline will have detailed information related to a specific guideline. Any questions regarding policy should be covered in this section.

Last week, we had not enough modding. This week, I'll agree there is too much modding (albeit necessary). In a few weeks time, I expect things to settle down.

Thanks for all of your comments and feedback. Good and bad, I take everything into consideration with the ultimate goal of creating a better experience for the members of EIP.

I think some forum restructuring could help. Some of my thoughts:
  • The main iPhone forum says its about hardware in the description but the title makes it seem more like a general forum.
  • General Discussion seems very similar to iPhone and is too far down on the list.
  • iPhone Software should be split to the native software and 3rd party software.
Also I'd be happy to help mod the software or modifications forums if EI is looking for help (had lots of experience moderating on vbulletin) :)
