I'm getting ready to put a 16g white 3G on Craigslist, jailbroken and unlocked (3.0). This is my first experience with Craigslist, but I've read about some of the major scams here on EiC.

what ever you do do note except any pay pal or any type of money order offers, only true way to avoid a scam is cash and in person.
Yep. And best to avoid anyone who emails shortly after the posting asking something really obvious like "is this still available?"
don't even respond to those or the ones in broken English. They are basically bots and even if they don't manage to scam you, if you reply, they'll have your email addy.
Example message:

i've probably sold over 30 phones and hundreds of other things on craigslist. the scammers are usually pretty easy to pick out. DO NOT ship to anybody from craigslist or take paypal payments. Meet up at a safe public place, cash only, and always make sure to see the cash before you let them inspect your item. I had a friend try to sell a phone on craigslist because he knew I always sold mine on there. The guy said he wanted to see the phone first, my friend gave it to him to look at, the guy jumped in his car and took off. I always make sure to meet at a place like the mall and I always strategically meet in front of a security camera.

For 200 it's worth just keeping it Dave IMHO.
I still wish I had kept my version 1... like you said once, it's history. 10 years will go by before you know it and you be one of the lucky few who still have Apples first phone.
But I had no prob letting go of my 3g for the upgrade.
I Jailbroke and unlocked my v1 last night. I didn't want to JB my 3GS so my v1 has become my test phone. I have not Jailbroken since way back when. I must say I was very, very impressed at how far Jailbreaking has come. I've been using the v1 on WiFi since it is deactivated and everything is working perfectly (except for of course the phone function). I really missed out on great apps and programs sitting out the Jailbreak this long.

It's working great for me, too. The deadly combination of SBSettings, Backgrounder and mQuickDo have made me a deliriously happy camper!
Well after reading a little more last night, specially the tread on that BING.com rebate fiasco, I decided to use the internet chat session with AT&T because if I called them on the phone I wouldn't have proof of anything they told me. The chat specialist at the beginning was giving me false info and I called her out on it. She then after a while got it straight but using words like "I think" and "you SHOULD be able to".
So I asked her to find someone who could tell me exactly what I wanted to know.
After a total of almost an hour with her I finally got an upgrade to a 3GS 16GB with only ONE year contract for $199. Mind you I've been with AT&T (in all of their modalities and names) for over 13 years so that might have helped.
I printed our chat session and will be going to the AT&T store next Wednesday because there aren't any in over 100 miles from here.
So I asked her to find someone who could tell me exactly what I wanted to know.
