Unable to delete photos from my photo albums?

Why am I unable to delete photo's from my photo albums. These are photo's that I media services synchronised with my iPad and was taken with other devices. I would still like to do a bit of cleanup.

Photos added to your iPad via iTunes may only be deleted via iTunes.
