Ok I know dev team states that yell0wsnow cannot unlock the latest baseband which is 2.30.03. But, now I see a whole bunch of sites offering "software" only unlock solutions without the need for any funny SIM insertions. Has anyone tried any of these?

This is an example that pops up when you search google for iPhone unlock http://www.unlock-the-iphone.com/ I don't know anything about this company ... this is just an example since they specifically site the new baseband which dev team considers untouchable!

Thanks,

I call scam on this. The iPhone 3G is unlockable on 2.2.1 with yellowsn0w as long as you update it to 2.2.1 using QuickPwn to avoid upgrading the baseband already, which is FREE. No need to pay money for this at all.

^i call spam, dude shows up and disguises one of his 3 posts as an advertisement for his website.

i went on the site, attempted to contact them to ask how they can unlock 2.2.1 when it is not possible and the contact submit form didn't even work.

That was a question only. I was just trying to see if these offers are legit or not and if anyone had tried any of these so called solutions before paying. This is not my website or anything like that. It seems too good to be true.

Thanks,

No! The iPhone 3G is unlockable on 2.2.1 with yellowsn0w when using Pwnage, not quickpwn.

^ Correct. It's Pwnage Tool, not QuickPWN, that lets by bypass the Baseband update.

If your iPhone has the 5.08 bootloader (it's hard-coded into the logic board), you can also use Fuzzyband on your jailbroken iPhone to roll back your baseband to 2.28.0, which can be unlocked.
