Unlocked iPhone 5 usage

I have an iPhone5 that AT&T has confirmed is eligible to be unlocked and that process is in the works as I type this. My question is, what cellular carriers in the US can I use the unlocked iPhone5 with and what about carriers outside of the US? Can I use a prepaid carrier's Sim card, if so whose? I plan on keeping this phone for a couple of years and will be doing some traveling internationally as well as domestically.

Any GSM SIM card will work. You can use it with T-Mobile or any of the smaller GSM networks in the US. When you travel outside the US, you can buy prepaid SIM cards in the countries you visit.

Looking around the web led me to believe the same thing but it is nice to have it confirmed.
