I know it has only been a few days and a tethered jailbreak is out... Can I be optomistic about an untethered to follow or are my untethered days behind me on 4.2.9?!?!?!:(

Word on the wire is that you should not be optimistic.

Edit: But you never know ;) You might be able to restore back to 4.2.8 and re-jailbreak untethered again if you had your SHSH blobs saved.

i find that jailbreak is doable for most firmwares, it's the unlocking that i believe has the dev-team screwed. always make sure that ultrasn0w works on that jailbreak before actually jailbreaking oh and make sure you always use pwanagetool because that will build a custom firmware, meaning it save an unlockable baseband.

Did you even read the OP's post? ;)
He didn't ask about unlocking. He's using a Verizon iPhone. Unlocking is completely irrelevant here. He just wants to know when the untethered jailbreak will be released.

no one knows exactly when the untethered jailbreak will be out, some say when iOS 5 is released, which makes sense, im atleast kind of happy with my tethered jailbreak, heres the guide if anyone else wants the same

im sure comex will find another untethered
I hope Comex and the rest don't waste a minute of their time on anything but 5.0. No point in losing our JBs on anything but that update. It's downgrade or wait from here on out.

That's what I feared - I do agree though.

Well, since iOS4.3.5 was just released today, might as well wait. It's really pointless to upgrade to 4.3.4 or 4.3.5 as all they contain are security patches, which you can get from Cydia anyway- if you are already jailbroken.

There will most likely never be an untethered jailbreak for 4.2.9/4.2.10 and 4.3.4/4.3.5 because these firmwares have i0n1cs untether exploit patched. First they would have to find a new untether exploit and then burn that exploit just for firmware that patches jailbreaking which would be a waste of an exploit. Plus iOS5 will be out soon so exploiting these firmwares would be pointless
