UNTETHERED JB 5.0.1 with preserved baseband?

Currently im on AT&T locked, Limerian jailbroken iPhone4 4.1(8B117) firmware. Baseband 02.10.04
With the new untethered 5.0.1 out, Im wandering what tool should I use to JB my phone properly. Ive red that if I use redsn0w 0.9.6rc19, ill loose my baseband. The other option would be to use Sn0wBreeze v2.8b8 to preserve it.
The problem. Im not quite sure what baseband does for me. I didn't need to unlock my phone before, but I'll be going abroad and might need the phone to be unlocked in the near future. Does this mean i should use Sn0wbreeze to unlock it later(or right away).

Also whats the deal with tiny umbrella and custom IPSW?

You may want to look into using tools like Sn0wbreeze and Pwnage Tool.

Redsn0w has been updated to work with Windows and preserve the baseband. It is what I used to get to 5.0.1 and worked like a charm. The ipsw it puts out is pretty clearly labeled as a NO_BB ipsw. The best place for you to get info about redsnow would be the dev teams blog as i have found that a lot of sites still have outdated information.
