Using a HK iPhone in Thailand - HELP!

Hi!
I have a 3G iPhone bought in HK.
To use with a local network SIM card in Bangkok (TH AIS) i had to go to mbk and get my card cut and have a microchip foil added to it so that i could use normally (but I can't load applications)
I can't use it abroad however even though I have international roaming....

Now a network provider is offering 3g iPhone for sale in Thailand (finally) but will only sell SIM card + iPhone as a package! I want a compatible SIM card but don't want to buy the phone again

Any ideas as to how i can improve my situation?

so your 3g iPhone in hk is not unlocked one? sad....
maybe you can ask for some seniors to help ya unlock it via software methods.
