I downloaded that latest version of Ubuntu and created a bootable thumb drive from which to run it so I don't have to partition my Mac's hard drive any further (already running Lion and Win7 on different partitions). So, now that I have it, what can I do on it that I can't do on other operating systems.
It was suggested that I might have greater access to data on old hard drives that I hooked up via USB and an adapter cable, but it didn't do any better than Win7 extracting data.
