Vibrate/Volume buttons broken?

Just unpacked my iPhone5. Neither the silence or volume buttons are working. Am I missing something in iOS6? Or a hardware problem? Clicking volumen buttons doesn't change volume and doesn't display the volume indicator on screen. Flipping the silence button doesn't do anything either.

I've already reset to factory, no change.

Oh no! That's no good. Not saying you haven't already tried it just a guess is "Do not disturb" on by any chance? Maybe the reset might have turned it off but that's where I'd check.

If not sounds like you may need to take it back to Apple.

Arghhh. I've tried all settings, even custom vibrate settings, nothing works. When the motors tries to fire I can hear it trying to work. Off to Apple in the am. Fml

Sorry to hear that bro. Hope I'm not in for a bunch of problems. My iPhone 4 has working great for almost two years.
