volume on incoming text message alert

There is currently no option for this. It's one of the things many people expect in the first update.
When is that update happening? I had read a rumor on some forum, don't remember if it was this one, that there might be an update today. I am hoping that this gets fixed before next Friday or I am afraid I am going to have to return the phone. I forward all of my skytel pages to my yahoo email address. I have to be able to hear a page a 2am. So far, the iPhone can't do this for me and for $600 I don't want to have to carry a pager and a phone.
What people "expect" in any update is completely irrelevant. Number one, Apple has never released any statement saying that there will be an update anytime soon.
Our expectations are irrelevant? How do you figure? And to think, that's probably not even the dumbest thing you'll say today.

Nice reply. Positive and negative feedbacks are always welcome. Feedback improves product quality and lets Apple improve there products. I remember when PCs where just a grey box and people complaint and look what Apple did. You got to love there designs. Look at the iPhone. Bashing people about negative feedback about the phone should not be accepted and looked at as a way to improve the phone.
I'm using a 3G model.
