Same boat here...been waiting for an hour and a half now...for the freakin' email. I called the toll free number right off the bat (when I noticed my previous sim was deactivated within 10 minutes); they said all that they had been told was "shortly." I am an existing customer...and also in the southeast...which I've noticed a lot of delayed customers are. Someone posted a while back that they wondered if they partitioned coverage across the US...and I'm pretty sure they do...so whatever point is handling the southeast may be the issue for renewing existing customers.....just speculation.

I'm new ATT customer and didn't port my old cell phone yet. I'll wait a few days before porting over my "official" cell number from TMobile.

Activation took only a couple of minutes. My iPhone can make calls and rings when I call it at the number assigned to me!

Getting things synched up now.

Once the Apple store in Chandler, AZ opened at 6pm, we were about 80th in line, but walked out with the iPhone by 6:30pm. Apple, as usual, had the whole purchase process so well streamlined that they were moving iPhones out the door at an unbelievable pace.

Have to go play!

Second that. They should have posted a disclaimer stating that activation could take up to 12 hrs!
Their disclaimer on iTunes said, "up to six minutes"! Hey, 6 minutes... 12 hours... who cares after you've wasted a day standing in line for a black coaster.
