Misguided I am lol. Thanks for showing me the right way lol.

So yeah a friend of mine though his iPod touch 2G was dead. I told him I would take it home and mess with it and see if I could get it working for him. He told me if I could get it working I could keep it. So I brought it home and did a hard reset and plugged it up and what do you know it came to life lol.

So I've never had the courage to jb my iPhone 4 so I figured I could play around with this iPod touch and see what the whole jb thing was about :)

Im not sure if I should go ahead and update the latest firmware or keep it on 3.1.3. Hopefully someone will chime in soon and let me know whats up. Im so excited I can hardley wait lol.

Plug it into iTunes and restore it, it will restore to the highest firmware available for a 2nd gen (4.2.1) then after that download greenpoisen and jailbreak!

Ok I restored and updated to 4.2.1. I downloaded and jailbroke using greenpoison. It finished jailbreaking but its stuck on the screen where it wants me to to plug it up to iTunes.

Does anyone know what I need to do next?

First try kicking it out of recovery mode with the fix recovery feature in TinyUmbrella. If that doesn't work, try running limera1n (while still in recovery mode) to jailbreak. If that fails, hit the restore button in iTunes and then run limera1n.

Well I unplugged it from the computer and was going to plug it back in to see what happened. It started rebooting then bingo. Somehow I got lucky I guess cause right now everything seems to be working fine.

Thanks so much for the help guys!
