See, I only just tried tethering after getting MMS for the first time last night. I seem to have lost USB tethering but BlueTooth tethering is working fine. I updated the carrier to 5.0 a couple weeks ago and restarted the phone and MMS worked instantly. I didn't have to do anything different to get tethering to work last night.

Have you tried BT tethering?
So when did you do the BenM tethering hack? Did you do the MMS update last night and then did the BenM tethering hack today and you now have both MMS and tethering?

I don't have the toggle to turn it on anymore (so I can't do BT or USB), so I'll have to do the tethering hack again, but I'm wondering if that will disable MMS.

I'm confused. So you just enabled MMS but tethering still works? Have actually tried tethering? After enabling MMS today, my tethering toggle was still there until I turned it on, after turning it on, the tethering toggle completely disappears (just as it did for those that updated to 3.1).

Do you think I should do the BenM hack again? I'm just wondering if doing that will disable MMS now. What do you think?
Thanks

LMK if you get it to work. I think you and I were running the same until you just did the carrier update. I'm still on 4.0. I have been following what you have been doing and I would rather have my teathering than mms. It just comes in more handy.

K, I'll let you know. I might just do the BenM thing again, but I'm waiting to hear from Aero and Youngbinks.

Are you up to 50 sent yet? All my friends that have iPhones have been inundating me with pics, all super excited to finally have gotten MMS.
No, but I'm getting there! ;)

I'm a little worried that each one sent is actually counted as 2 messages by AT&T since they're showing in 2 separate bubbles after I send them. Not sure if this is just the way the Messages app shows them or if it's an accurate reflection of how they're going to be counted. :( Guess I should keep an eye on my account to figure that out...

I initially did the BenM tethering hack a while ago when it was first introduced. I never had solid MMS working. 2 weeks ago I decided to give MMS another try. I went and located the 5.0ipcc file from AT&T and did the Terminal command to enable carrier updates. From there I just updated the carrier to 5.0 in iTunes and restarted the phone, and the MMS icon appeared and it's worked ever since.

I didn't even think to check if my tethering was working until last night when reading your posts actually about the possibility of losing it. I tried USB and it didn't work so I tried BT and it did. I didn't do the BenM thing again nor did I try to change any settings.

I say that it's worth trying again. If it DOES disable MMS you can always redo the steps you took to get MMS I suppose.

Ever since I got the MMS working everything has sent as "2 messages". I have unlimited texts so I can't really notice if it counts as 2 or not. Do you have a limit on your plan? If so, call the *3282# and get a count of your texts. Then try sending an MMS and redo the *3282# and see if it counted as 2. It might work?

evo, you only get 5 a day. You're probably out. I'm out for the day too, or I would thank Youngbinks right now ;)

Youngbinks, I'm probably going to give it a try, but I still want to wait and hear what Aero says.

You're asking me? I'm just a contributor and yours says genius! lol.

No, really, I have no clue. I would do redo the BenM.at thing. If you lose MMS then redo everything again. The article has a link to download carrier 4.0 so if all goes bad just start all over again and get it back to how you originally had it.

All I did was follow the directions on that link then turned my phone off then on and everything was working.

I am tethering right now!

I just had a friend send me an MMS and I received it so I tried to send her one and it went through. It's VEEEEERY SLOW on EDGE but it's going through now.

I can't get BT working, dunno how to configure it on my mac.. but I have USB and BlueTooth as options under General - Network - Tethering.

Using 5.0 Carrier.

I have USB and BT tethering working on my 3G which is still on 3.0 and AT&T 5.0. I don't yet however have MMS working. I think I might try and do the "legit update" in iTunes and re-update to the new carrier file and see what happens.

Oh good. I thought I was the only one. I've never gotten it to tether via bluetooth for more than a few seconds so I always use the USB and it works great.

I only use BT when I'm in my truck to answer calls while driving.

I do remember something about that, I do beleave it is counted as 2 because it uses more data. I have heard that before.
