It doesn't matter if it's from another country. You should still be able to ship the phone back.
I don't want to sound like a smartass, but it seems you didn't look into this purchase very much. The news of the iPhone 5 release has been posted everywhere for months. Do you live in the country where you bought it? Doesn't the store allow returns? I'd certainly ask them.
Did you get it on eBay? If so, and you paid with PayPal, see if you can return it to the seller. OR resell it yourself on eBay immediately.
Great idea Mindi. eBay it right away and get the best price before everyone else starts selling theirs. You could advertise it as almost brand new.

eBay to the rescue!
Ebay it and you'll get a really good price because if you bought it in Malaysia it must be factory unlocked which makes it more valuable. Make sure you say that in your ad. I bought mine in Germany really cheap and factory unlocked. Best purchase I've done in a long time.I did not buy it from eBay. I went to Malaysia for a holiday and got it from a shop. But now I'm in my own country. I'm hopeless
He's new to the iPhone world and just bought it the day before he posted here. When you read his entire post he also talked about 5G. He has an iPhone 4.
