are they deleted when you close them? or stored in some kind of temp directory?
i want to make sure i'm not cluttering up memory.
They are not stored in any temp directory so as soon as you close the email with the attachment, i'm sure the memory is "released" back..........to test this, view a document, exit the email, then set your phone to plane mode where wifi/edge is turned off and reaccess the email. the phone will try to redownload the attachment, hence, the original viewing was never "saved" anywhere.
however..........there is a little useful glitch where if you view an email, download and open a document attached to the email, and move the email to your "Sent" folder.................that document is now being held somewhere in physical memory. To test it, close the email, set your phone into plane mode where wifi/edge is turned off, and go back into that email in your iPhone that is now in the Sent folder and you will see, the phone will open it again without attempting to re-download it. As soon as you move the email out of the Sent folder, then i think it gets "deleted" or cleared out of wherever it was stored. this is actually one "workaround" to saving documents onto the iPhone for "offline" viewing and that's why i said useful glitch......
hope this helps.
