Anyone here has any idea regarding the expected Camera feature of iPhone. I am interested in having a cool camer in my phone. I expect iPhone should have a high end megal-pixel camera.

Unless you are impressed with Motorola’s' camera phone, than you probably are not going to be overly impressed with iPhone. They have set no specifics regarding the product as of yet.

Though I have used Motorola phone and I am not very impressed with the camera feature but overall I think iPhone's camera feature will be entirely different. It will a whole new experience.

A 2 mega-pixel camera would definitely suffice the need for mobile camera.
As of now we have market flooded with hundreds of mobiles having 1.3 Mega-pixel camera, and so a 2 mega-pixel would be really nice in an iPhone.
And being provided by Apple I am not too much worried about quality issues.

I have no idea what to expect but I would certainly hope that it would be a good one, especially after all the expectations and hopes that everyone has for this product.

I feel that a 1.3 Mega Pixel camera is enough for a mobile and if you want a better resolution go for a proper camera.Mixing up things really don't help a lot.Integrating a higher mega pixel camera would take a lot of effort from them keeping in mind that their product design are always clean and simple.

2MP Camera is a good advantage

According to a report, the iPhone will sport a 2MP camera.
Hi guys! I'm new here. Just scouting for info on this very-talked-about iPhone.

2MP is a good news, but, I hope Apple won't just hang to it.

A better MP rating for its iPhone will surely elevate their sales, specially here in the Philippines.

A 2MP camera is lame in a device this price. SONY and NOKIA already have 3.2 megapixel cameras in their phones. However I don't think anyone is going to buy or not buy this phone based on the camera. At this point in time if you want a camera with good photo quality you have to buy a dedicated camera.

You really can't judge a phone camera purely by the number of mega-pixels. Personally, I would rather have a quality 2MP camera in my phone than the 3+MP cameras built into most of today's phones. The quality of the iPhone's camera remains to be seen though. We will have to wait until it released to know how it rates compared to other phone cameras.

Thanks for the advise.

My only concern though was to make my life simpler by putting every useful gadget in one place only, that is, I know everyone will agree, in a phone.

Just imagine, a phone with a perfect shot of pix, is really an advantage. Yeah, Nokia and Sony already have such technology, but the thing is- bringing an Apple gadget with everything-in-it is surely an edge.

one thing we have to keep in mind is that the phone is advertised as a phone, media player and internet device. the camera is not a separate feature but rather simply a part of the phone function. in that case, 2mp will work fine regardless of the quality of the camera (unlike the 3.2mp sony and nokia which are advertised as phone//cameras). At this point, unless they had a 6 or 7pm camera, it still wouldn't be any where near the quality of a standard digital camera anyway.

Photobooth Effects!

Sure, there are 3.2 MP phones out there, but how many have photo Booth effects! :p

I am just assuming but I would be very surprised if the iPhone didn't have it since the effects use quartz (build-in to OS X). It would also explain why the camera function isn't done yet.

Because the iPhone is manufactured by Apple, I do have confidence that the camera will be of high quality. However, because they (Apple) have not widely publicized the outstanding quality of its camera, it will not be as good in comparison to its more compelling features, such as the iPod.

I would also like to say that this is my first visit to this forum and I am very impressed with it.

Welcome! I agree that the camera is not the primary "focus" of this device. ;)

Cell phone cameras: HIGH resolution = Poor low light

Anyone here has any idea regarding the expected Camera feature of iPhone. I am interested in having a cool camer in my phone. I expect iPhone should have a high end megal-pixel camera.

Cell phone cameras provide high resolution by using very small pixels to collect the light. The amount of light collected per pixel is thus very low.
The quality of the image is degraded in low light by having a high resolution in a tiny camera. Cell phone camera would actually work better with lower resolution to have more balanced performance. Because consumers are stupid the cell phone industry just keeps uping the megapixels while producing worse and worse images from the tiny camera.
