OK, so what time are going to start waiting in line?

I *want* to get the whole day off work, in which case I would be there at 9am, just to see. (store is close to my house and work)

But, it looks like I will have to work, but my boss is gonna let me leave as early as 1pm. :)

Yeah, right now my plan is to drive by around 9am or so and check things out and then return around Noon. if there is still no line starting by Noon I'll probably wait until 2pm or so but not much later than that.

lol dude its my birthday to and i plan on doing the same exact thing.

I am hoping i don't have to wait in line for more then 6 hours.

Ill get up on the 29th around 9am and make coffee then head down to ATT to see of there is any campers. If so i will grab my chair and camp, if not ill come back around 12-2pm and then just wait to make sure.

I'm in the OKC area too. Which store are you going to? I think I'll be going to the AT&T store in Crossroads Mall, but I'm considering going to the Apple store at Penn Square Mall.

That's a tough choice, the AT&T Store would probably be less crowded than the Apple Store at Penn Square, however, you might have to watch your back at Crossroads, it is a pretty rough place.

On a positive note, howdy fellow Okies!

I am going to go over to the local AT&T store, which is like 1.5 miles away, around 6:00pm on that Friday. If it is not too bad I will go check it out. I am not going to camp out for any period of time.

Checking Thursday at closing time. If it appears that a line is forming, I'm pulling the folding chair and cooler out of the trunk. If no one is there, I'll come back around midnight to check prepared to do the same thing.

Latest I'll be sitting at the At&t store is 7 AM the next morning. I'm planning on making iDay an event I won't forget.:)

Wow...really? You wont wait outside for the phone youve been wanting forever? (no angry tone just a question.) I mean I don't WANT to camp ....but if theres a line I will be in it. isn't it like when you are going to a new movie or any event that requires you to wait in line? don't you get a little ancy and rush to the line to wait?

Potential Scenario:: Get to AT T store NOON JUN 29th. Normal day at AT T not too busy then ask. "Can I buy the 8g iPhone PLEASE?"
They may very well be prepared to sell iPhones as first come first serve regardless of the 430pm closing time.
People get off work at 430p. Plain and simple. I think earlybirds may be rewarded with "Why yes you may buy your 8G phone now."
I hope

I almost hate to admit this but the last time I waited in line for anything longer than 10 minutes was for opening day of 'Return of the Jedi'. Yeah, I know, I'm dating myself. I waited about six hours. I almost got into the first showing, I was ten people away! So of course I had to wait through the entire first showing for the second showing, I mean I had already waited for four hours at that point, whats two more?

I am already planning on waiting a minimum of six hours for iPhone.

Im 38 so Im with ya on the ReturnOTJedi wait. Totally understandable considering Empire Strikes back was my first actual Cliffhanger experience in a movie theater. So yes...waiting 4 hours for it is so worth it. Comparitively...waiting twice that as an adult for iPhone....Priceless

If you had got there a little earlier you might have seen the first showing of Return of the Jedi.

I'm weird like this too. I remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Spiderman all on opening night. Normally I don't get so geeked up about electronics, but I've grown more and more interested in cell phones ever since I worked for Cingular back in '02. I've got four spare cell phones sitting in a basket on my dresser. That's just become a hobby to me. I was the first person in my school (student or faculty) to get a RAZR in '05 and I'll probably be the first to get an iPhone.

Heh -- I remember putting a box cutter into my left arm the day that "The Empire Strikes Back" opened. But I got stitched up and out of the hospital in time to make the showing!
