Wow...really? You wont wait outside for the phone youve been wanting forever? (no angry tone just a question.) I mean I don't WANT to camp ....but if theres a line I will be in it. isn't it like when you are going to a new movie or any event that requires you to wait in line? don't you get a little ancy and rush to the line to wait?
No. For one I have not wanted one forever, just six months or so.

Two, I know I will get one sooner rather than later.

Three, I can't really justify the time spent waiting online to get the phone. I want one, but it would make much more sense for me to wait a few more days to get one then to spend the time camping out. I just have other demands on my time that would not make that a good choice.

Honestly, I hope I can order it online and get it delivered with in a couple of days of launch. That would be my ideal situation.

I want the phone, not the hype.

I am going to go over to the local AT&T store, which is like 1.5 miles away, around 6:00pm on that Friday. If it is not too bad I will go check it out. I am not going to camp out for any period of time.
I am going to the local AT&T store around Noon on the 28th to see if anyone is there, if not me and a friend are going to start camping out at the store around 4:00 pm on the 28th. I am not going home empty handed on launch day!

I agree with that. It raises a thought. Im a single guy..living in a comfy 2 bedroom etc... I am not married...I have no extended children/family so that keeps the iPhone as a selfishly fun priority...that leaves a lot of room for me to be jubilatntly obsessed. Everyone does not have this option. What say u guys?:):)

I am married, have kids, and I work as a Senior Systems Engineer designing government SATCOM systems, yet even with all this I am camping out...gotta have priorities:p

I plan on taking a 1/2 day from work if possible. If not, I'm going to get out at 3 and head to the AT&T store that is right around the corner from my house. If there's a line starting, then I'm going to get in it. If not, then I'm going to go back home and just check back every like 30 minutes or so.

Exactly my scenario. I'm not married and don't have any kids. On top of that, I really don't spend any money on this kind of stuff. The phone I have now sucks and I've had it for 2.5 years. I don't even have an ipod. I don't even have a regular land phone line, so this somewhat justifies me spending the money. I don't spend money on video games or crap like that either. So for me, this is like a top priority. I haven't been this excited for a product in probably 10 years, when I was into video games and waiting for the new Legend of Zelda to come out or something.

Wow, I'm surprised so many people are planning to go get in line at 9am. That seems a little silly to be. I think 9:30 should be plenty late enough. :laugh2:

quick question....I understand how people wait in lines when a store is closed, but the ATT stores are closing at 4 and reopening at 6....the majority of people here will be in line before 4 when the store is actually open.....and if everyone will be just hanging out in front of the store while its open, isn't that just considered loitering?:p

I am sure the employees at the store will have some kind of system in place for those of us waiting in line. I doubt they will call the cops for us loitering when we are about to give them $600+ for a phone.

They'll have ropes or chains set up for people to line up.

I hear where you're coming from with this. Of course there's a lot better things I'd like to do than wait outside an AT&T store, but it is just going to be sitting around doing nothing which doesn't happen to often for me.

I think noon will be fine, If people leave work early to get the iPhone, it would probably be during their lunch break around 12:30, so I think noon is good.

I'm going to start scouting out my At&T location around 2:00. I have a good friend with a child my son's age that has offered to take my little guy while I go act crazy to get a phone. If there isn't a line I'll just go hang with my friend and check again at 3:30 or so. Once I see a line forming I'll whip out my chair and get in line.
