I'm anxiously awaiting the release of iOS 5. There are some fantastic new features and cannot wait for it to come out. Is it going to be available this week? When can I expect Apple to release it?

If I'm not way off the iOS is usually available a few weeks before the newest iPhone release, I always remember updating before the phone comes out, just not sure how close to release it was.

It's usually a week or so after the GM is released. Apple haven't even announced an event yet... could be a while.

I am starting to get skeptical of a September release - and I am also starting to get a little confused on Apple's strategy here. They go 3 years releasing a new phone every year on the spot, and this year they decide not to even say anything - and its September now....ugh.

Anyways I am thinking iOS5 will be September - iPhone 5 will be late October

I'm sure they will release them within a week of each other, iOS first followed by the new hardware. I don't think we'll see anything until October.

October 10th would be great, as it's my birthday :)

It's not like designing, testing, and manufacturing a new iPhone every year is a simple process. Especially when considering the supply issues in Japan this year, or maybe designing a Universal GSM/CDMA iPhone.

Point is, we know nothing.

Agreed - its unbelievable how they were able to do it over the last three years. But human nature is to take something routine, regardless of how amazing it is, and turn it into an expectation. I respect the crap out of Apple for what they do, and have done, but the 6 year old kid in me wants the new iPhone now! lol

Right! Actually with all the reports of Foxconn and the supply chain being in full production you'd think there's got to be a good "leak" here sometime soon. I really don't know why Apple doesn't announce earlier to avoid being one-upped.

I'm sure that's a consideration, but the difference between 9/14 & 9/21 might not be that significant. I would rather see the new model(s) presented on stage rather than some hack shack in Vietnam.

Not sure what that link was to, but it sure didn't have any purported iP5 photos.

is Apple waiting until Jobs is better so he can do one last Keynote address? Just a guess, I find it funny we haven't heard ANYTHING about an announcement

This is typical Apple behavior. They never announce a new iDevice more than a few weeks before launch.

I think the fact that Jobs has stepped down as CEO means Apple isn't going to wait for him to do anything anymore.
