Who Are Some of Your Favorite New Artists / Bands Discovered in the Last Year?

They don't have to be genuinely new as in just releasing their first songs or albums - just artists or groups that you have only just discovered in the last year or so.

Here's one of my faves - Melanie Fiona:

Warpaint (i think I'm in love with every single one of them)

and the best band you don't know you've already heard: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

That whole album is incredible.

Yeah - I think I've ended up buying nearly the whole Barton Hollow album now.

The black lockets

They are local but they're very good. We have a venue, the lost horizon in Syracuse that hosts a lot of big names. The lockets have opened for Story of the year, cross fade, pop evil and a bunch more.

Right on. I keep meaning to check out SXSW, but it never works out.

I also want to try to head out there for the formula 1 race next fall. hard to say if that'll work out, though.

Yeah getting Formula 1 here is really exciting - and big boost for the local economy. SXSW = I've only gone along to a few of the events during the Interactive section of it, have never done too much of the music portion. Mainly because I'm lucky and there's great live music here all through the year.
