a quick cost/benefit analysis tells me that it's not worth it.

the time it takes, my worry that something will happen (whether warranted or not) is not worth making the pictures on my homescreen 'prettier'

it's just fine for me.

just my 2 cents

well some people on here were complaining about how hard it was, a guy even went as far as to say he pay 10 dollars for something instead of modding.
I didn't pay $10 for the ringtone app because modding was too hard. I paid the $10 because my time spent going through the modding steps, only to add ringtones, was worth more than $10.

Yeah I like the defaults, The only reason I changed mine is so I wouldn't have to restore because I didn't like my first mod.

I Modded mine last night for 4 custom ringtones and then changed my mind and restore the iPhone becuz when I had it to a song that I want, often I don't know if I get a phone call or just the same song plays on my iPhone(I use my iPhone for iPod the most)
i don't think having a custom ringtones is worth doing all those stuffs, especially when wearing a headphone its impossible to know when you got a call while your listening to music

i like my iPhone the way it is for now...the only thing i would want is to be able to use wallpaper where the icons are..otherwise the wallpaper thing is useless (my opoinion)...the second thing i would like to change is the ability to add mp3 ringtones...and last but not least is to be able to use it as a external hard drive so i can put any other types of files i would want and be able to go through my personal folders.... :)

You are kidding, no?

I can easily tell when a call comes in since the music fades out. The risk of that happening right in the middle of a track--a track that just happens to also be my rington--is a risk I am willing to take. What can I say, I live dangerously.

Oh, about the "impossible to know when" a call comes in with headphones thing, where did you get that idea? Very easy to tell as, yet again, the music fades and the ringtone plays though the headset. Aside from being able to use the button and mic this behavior is exactly the same when using standard stereo headphones.

Not really

I started making my own icons, and even though it might have been more "my taste" or "my style" it still didn't top what Apple already did.

Anyone else feel this way?
No I do not feel that way. I understand when people do not want to customize because all they care is functionality. But the point of your post seems to be that Apple design is so perfect that it can not be "improved". Come on! It is just a picture (a nice one but still). Plenty of designers can do just as good and then it all comes to tastes. It seems like what you wanted to say was: "Look how great Apple design is. Do not touch it." It is an admirable adoration for Apple just do not let it blind you. :)

"This is my iPhone. There are many like it but this one is mine."

A couple of lines from Full Metal Jacket. Modding is cool but why tamper with perfection? :)

i'll just wait for Apple to use a safe way to mod my iPhone...i don't trust all these mods that you guys are talking about...anything can come with the EXE. that allows you to mod your phone (malicious codes)...don't get me wrong here....im not putting anyone down for modding...i just don't want anything to happen to my already perfect iPhone.

by the way all the mods posted are really not all that great...why go through all the trouble to change the company logo or to change an icon that looks worst than the one already installed..:p

I've yet to see a mod that looks better. :p

After modding my WM5 devices to death and never really coming up with a good "Final Solution", I think that I will wait to see what the updates bring. The iPhone works fine for me now, so I will be patient.
