Why are people overbidding on eBay?

Why is everyone overbidding on ebay...most of the stores in my area have em back in stock

While some Apple stores may be getting small shipments in each day, the news is reporting that most of them are getting to the sold out point. Personally I thing its stupid to overpay on ebay for anything. If people stopped over bidding on items like this the whole thing would stop because the ebay sellers wouldn't make any money.

Did you hear about the woman who went into Apple to buy $100,000 worth of iPhones to put on ebay? It was great to see her get turned away and told she could only buy one! LOL

Well I can only speak for myself. The local stores were sold out, and they were getting small shipments. I talked to store reps and was told you had to just keep checking as they were getting daily shipments. I got tired of playing that game so I tried ordering online at Apple. It is a 2-4 week wait. AT&T site doesn't let you order them any longer. So I went to eBay. I found a new in box 8gb phone for $650 from a reputable seller. This is the same price I would have paid locally after taxes(yes I live in CA, and yes the taxes are that high) so I snagged it. Now I am glad I did as I see the entry level price has moved up to around $700.

So it really depends on where you live and how easy it is to find a phone. So for me I am perfectly happy knowing that I bought the phone, didn't have to wait in lines, and didn't have to wait for a month to get the phone. I am thrilled with the purchase!
