I've been doing some troubleshooting with my home wifi network lately, and I came to realize that we've never had a thread here comparing wifi speeds on various devices, despite numerous GSM/data speed comparisons. I'm trying to figure out why my iPhone 4 is so much faster on some networks than others (specifically Apple Airports) even with routers having the same capabilities.
So I'm curious what others are getting. For the sake of consistency, please follow this format:
1. iOS device
2. Maximum Download/Upload speed in Megabits Per Second (Mbps) obtained using the speedtest.net app
3. Maximum internet bandwidth from your home internet provider in Mbps
4. Model of router
If you don't know the last two don't worry about it, but it can be helpful in troubleshooting so provide them if you can. So for my devices it goes like this:
1. iPhone 4
2. 13/4
3. 25/5
4. Cisco E1000
and
1. iPad 3rd gen
2. 25/5
3. 25/5
4. Cisco E1000
I've gotten higher on the iPhone at work, but for the purposes of this thread, I'll stick to my home speeds. So... anyone care to contribute?
