It was said that iPhone is only going to be available through Cingular, and thats for America. What about Asia and Australia? Will local service providers work with iPhone?

From what I understand from Steve Job's Keynote address, it will be available in Australia and Asia in 2008 (http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/handhelds/ontheradar/0,39050970,61980158,00.htm). Which is probably a good thing, because we'll get all the bugs (if any) and you'll get the next improved generation. I know, I want it yesterday too, but remember what it was like having the first iPod and wanting the next one?

The iPhone is quad-band GSM, so it should work in many countries... it's just a matter of when it will be released.
