When you say "pairs up", I assume you mean the hands free function? What does it do with those gps units specifically? Since the iPhone isn't yet enabled for serial bt functionality, there haven't been any gps units that have been able to work for navigation with the iPhone. Its a real shame, too.I do know that the iPhone pairs up nicely with Garmin Nuvi 660 and 680 GPS units. I have a 680 and don't have any problems.
Hopefullly TomTom will fix the pairing problem soon with updates.
This will be somthing TomTom has to update. My Garmin GPS works perfectly with my iPhone.I have not been able to get my iPhone to link up with TomTom. It is very frustrating as the blue tooth functionality was one of the "big plusses" with my investment in the phone.
so does that mean you use google maps with it . I mean how does that work with garmon explain please. This will be somthing TomTom has to update. My Garmin GPS works perfectly with my iPhone.
What I understood about the Apple's implementation of BT on the iPhone was that it was purely a telephone audio function only application. To get a GPS or hard drive or sync with a computer, etc. to work it has to be enabled as a serial bt device. Even though the iPhone has BT2.0 (and should be capable), these features are currently turned off by Apple on this device (unless the recent update unlocked it).I have not been able to get my iPhone to link up with TomTom. Please tell us what, exactly, you can do with the iPhone and Garmin! Is it just a hands free thing? GPS functionality isn't supposed to work with the iPhone right now - so I'm dying to know what's working...This will be somthing TomTom has to update. My Garmin GPS works perfectly with my iPhone.
Yes. The only thing Tom Tom users as well as Garmin users will be able to do is use their GPS as a handsfree option. You can make calls and take calls all from the screen of the GPS. You can also see your contacts and make calls from that. What I understood about the Apple's implementation of BT on the iPhone was that it was purely a telephone audio function only application.
