Currently, a typical movie takes about 1 gig of memory on my iPhone. I thought I had heard that the iPad screen resolution was higher than the iPhone. Will movie files on the iPad be different (due to higher resolution) or the same?

Should be larger. I use Handbrake to rip my DVDs and they have several modes to choose from. I currently use the iPhone mode and my movies are 500-700 mb but if I choose Apple TV they go up to around 2 gigs. I already have ripped over 400 movies so I'm hoping the quality will be good enough so that I don't have to start over.
When I download movies from iTunes they are really big, in the 1 -1.2 gig range. I really hope that I can rip great quality for 1 gig or less.
