Not sure...

Have been a loyal Treo user since the 300 years ago.. the iPhone looks fantastic and I will watch it closely, but this is what I need and want from my device, and I am not sure if iPhone can deliver yet:

One device for everything I need on the go -
- Phone
- Speakerphone comes in handy often (not sure if iPhone has a speaker)
- Text messaging (iPhone lack of a real keyboard may be a problem)
- Email, including attachments (iPhone lacks attachment support I think)
- Word documents and spreadsheets (not sure if iPhone can do it)
- Music & video for fun (iPhone beats Treo easily on quality am sure)
- PIM features like tasks, events & so on (doubt iPhone can match Datebook)
- Ability to add lots of custom software like my Treo (not sure of iPhone)
- Lots of choice on accessories (iPhone beats Treo there)
- FREEDOM to choose the carrier I want and hopefully have a SIM unit I can take with me when I travel abroad (iPhone stops the "revolution" short by only offering for Cingular)

Although the phone looks hot and has some promise, am just not sure it can meet my needs.

:(

Bingo!

I'd suggest removing it from your list of trusted devices, performing a soft reset and then re-initiating the process. If you still have trouble, check out the forums at Everything Treo. Lots of helpful and knowledgeable folks there.
Thanks Chris. That worked. The trick I think is to not use the "Hands-free Setup" option and to go straight into the trusted devices button on the bottom and "Add Device". Worked like a charm!

I guess my BT250v may not have been recognized as a hands-free device so using the more generic Trusted Devices is the way to go.

Ahhhh.. Now I feel at ease again.

i already tried to pay for it. I walked into the mac store and gave them my credit card. I will definitely buy it the second it comes out, along with waiting for it outside the store before opening.

Need a log-in fix here

Chris, some feedback on the site. Please make a change on the site pages so that, when I get the email from Everything iPhone telling me there is a response, and it includes the link right to it - well, there should be a fix so that we can log-in here right from whatever page that link takes us to. You can "register" from any page the link takes you to. But you have to go to the "home" page in order to log-in.......and you can't move around in the forum without logging in. :-(

Oh man I can't wait to place an order. I'll buy couple of them for people:laugh2: . But I can see why they need 6 more months to release the phone, that Apple presentation didn't convince me much on the album scroll thing and the movies. But thats okay.

I will make sure to buy Cell phone insurance, I'm glad I chose cingular a long time ago.

- Treo beats iPhone on accessories by a log shot. But give it some time.
- You're right about being locked in to Cingular, but this means you will have your SIM card.

Your other points are right on.

Officially, it's to secure FCC certification.
Unofficially, I believe it's to use the announcement to gauge public & press opinion and tweak the iPhones offerings & capabilities. This Cisco lawsuit garbage should also be settled by then.

Reserve one 8gb for me!

Hello All...Newbie Here...Found this site after googling iPhone. Hope to learn a lot from all of you about the iPhone! You can count me for one 8 gig phone. I have Sprint now and don't care for the service. Tried to get a new phone on Sunday (The Q) and their telesales couldn't figure out how to process after 20 minutes. Can't wait to go to Cingular in June!

It's a no-brainer for me. I hope to be the first consumer in my town to get one. I am already shmoozing the local Cingular stores. And there is a corporate HQ here (Redmond, WA), so maybe I can get an EDGE up!

Just curious how many people are already planning on getting the new iPhone.
I definitely plan on getting one. I hope that the bluetooth marries up with the BMW 3 series (2007). Right now I'm using my RAZR (recommended by BMW). Any bluetooth news in that regard?

You can buy any phone you want, but you'll probably lose out on the (probable) promotional discount you'd get for enrolling/re-enrolling if you haven't done so already.

I am very interested in the iPhone. Unfortunately, I am one who likes to wait for a new product to come out and hear what others have to say before I jump in. That having been said, I am not as worried about the product failing to live up to my expectations as Apple tends to make good stuff. Due to the cost of this phone, I have a bunch of questions I will want answered before I commit to a new cellular service agreement. I have to say that I am as excited as most folks for the iPhone to hit the market.

What I'm wondering (and i'd LOVE to hear others' opinion on this) is if they'll let me sign a new contract for this phone, after I just signed a new one in January. Cingular ran a really big promotion that ended (supposedly) in January, where they were practically giving away phones. I bought a brand new L6 for 50$, then I got a 50$ rebate.

Would they really run this promotion 5 months ahead of the iPhone, and potentially slow iPhone sales in June, by not allowing ppl to sign a new contract to get the newest hot phone?

They let me do it in January for the promotion. I was nowhere near the end of my contract, but in January they let me sign a new one, just erased the old one, and I was able to get my new L6. I hope they let me do the same in June. :p

i hope so..but one question

Just curious how many people are already planning on getting the new iPhone.
will you be able to spin the phone for text messaging to enlargen the buttons? i'm worried about the size of the them. i like to feel the buttons on my treo. if i keep hitting the wrong buttons on the screen i may get a bit frustrated.
