I definitely love my iPhone. Never really used a smart phone before so I don't know what I'm missing if there's anything better out there. My OCD has me thinking a lot about little things that might make the iPhone better. I'm sure some of them will come out over the next few months.

Here's my list (in no particular order):

1. Landscape keyboard anywhere the keyboard can be used.
2. Copy and Paste
3. iChat
4. Preview wav files in mail
5. Save attachments in mail
6. Edit office docs (basic editing)
7. Save files from Safari
8. File transfer via bluetooth
9. Stereo headphones via bluetooth
10. Voip
11. Voice Dial
12. Sync notes
13. Custom Ringtones
14. New font for notes
15. Flash support
16. File browser
17. Fix scrolling through images bug in photos
18. iTunes Lyrics
19. 3G
20. Ability to organize home screen and remove unwanted apps from home screen
21. 3rd Party developer support
22. Video recording
23. Select multiple messages to delete in mail
24. Select multiple characters when editing text

That's all I can think of for now. Any other suggestions?

My Wish List

Give us Copy/Paste facility. Every cell phone has had this for at least 10 years.

Give us A2DP Bluetooth stereo capability. This is common on most phones with an MP3 player.

Give us voice dialing. Only the cheapest cell phones have not had voice dialing for at least 5 years.

Give us Java support. This is common on most modern smartphones.

Give us Flash support. This is common on most modern smartphones.

Give us Internet text messaging. This is common on most modern smartphones.

Allow us to download our own ringtones. Even the cheapest cell phones have this capability.

Allow us to sync our addresses/contacts via Bluetooth. I can do this with my 3-year old Motorola phone, but not with my iPhone.

Add an expandable memory slot. This is common on most modern smartphones.

Give us a decent resolution camera. Even my wife's basic cell phone has a 2mpx camera.

Give us a headphone jack that will fit most headphones. Hello?! What's with that recessed jack?

Give us GPS capability. It has been on several Blackberrys and other high end smartphones for some time.
---
All but the last item are the reasons why I returned my iPhone on July 3. I'll wait for version 2, but I can't afford to wait too long.

For your first one, photos already take up the whole screen when contacts call. Take a picture of someone, then go to their name in the phonebook. Edit their entry, and click on the square in the top left, hit choose picture, find that picture in your photo albums, then have them call. The pic will fill up the screen when they call.

iPhone upgrade not so soon

"All but the last item are the reasons why I returned my iPhone on July 3. I'll wait for version 2, but I can't afford to wait too long."

I highly doubt that an upgrade will be coming soon. It took almost 2 year for the ipod upgrade to hit the stores. Even if you wait for the upgrade, more problems will arise. The new upgrade will most likely include the the 3G upgrade in speed. This will kill the battery life even more. The battery already isn't that great...

However, i do agree with the slow upgrades with Apple. Microsoft is killing itself coming out with new different products all the time. Half of them suck.

More space
3g
Replaceable (or longer life) battery
Flash support
Download iTunes music straight from phone

More to come. . . .

I like the iPhone the way it is now and these are only things that I "want" in the next iPhone, not neccessarily what I need.

I have only had mine for a few hours, but I would love to see a feature of being able to delete multiple emails at one time. And like someone else said on here - be able to have email from multiple accounts in one screen not separate boxes to check. I am coming from using Blackberries for the past 3 years so I would like to see some of those features.

- Custom Ringtones
- Different Ringtones for different contacts
- Select different sounds for different things (mail, calendar, vs phone, etc.)
- When in calendar mode, and I turn my iPhone landscape it should show the month view.
- Voice Activated Dialing - completely hands free.
- Different Signatures for different email accounts.

That's my wish list. Hope they are listening :laugh2: to all of these good ideas on this board.

I have a Blackberry Pearl and want to get an iPhone so I am reading this forum to help me make up my mind. Can you really not assign different ringtones for different contacts on iPhone? I like to do that because if I am working and phone is on my desk I can pick it up if it is a certain person calling. I also like how I can assign different sounds to incoming texts or VM, etc... on the Pearl. I do like voice activated dailing, but it's not a deal buster since it doesn't always work perfectly anyway. The Pearl doesn't have 3G either, so that doesn't bother me. thanks for the info!

I want to be able to sync with Google calendar. I don't use Outlook, never have and the version I have on my computer is too old to sync, even if I did use it!

Google calendar sync, please!

Everything you said, but i would like to stress these:

-Copy & Paste. As cool as the touch keyboard is, it would still be easier to just highlight and drag, or copy & paste.
-Standard headphone jack. Just because you have reinvented the cell phone, doesn't mean you have to reinvent headphones.
-A more customizable homescreen like on any computer, with a background and any shortcuts i want.
-expandable storage

Somewhat official, wants/needs in future firmware and iPhones!

Physical stuff for iPhone 2nd Gen:

Software updates:
-Double click home button for ipod controls.
-Landscape keyboard for every typing app
-More options on camera
-Mass delete e-mail
-Mass Make SMS
-MMS
-Easier unlock screen, or choice not to have one. (slide is cool, but gets annoying sometimes)

-Native Scroll for home screen (one Apple makes more apps, this will have to happen)
-support for 3rd party apps (no jailbreak stuff)
-Wifi Store app (this is about to come) on EDGE
-Copy and paste
- More then one e-mail address on one page
-Shortcut button to get back to main screen of that app (so you don't have to press back a billion times)
-Ultimate bluetooth (everything bluetooth is capable of doing)
New apps:
-game app (to hold all games that they should make)
-IM app (with all popular IM clients, mix between mail and sms app)

-Service other then AT&T
-Cheaper in general
-Cheaper plans as an option (less minutes, more sms, ect)

You know I was thinking today also of a cool feature that could be used with the "paint/sketch" app you mentioned.

To be able to paint or sketch on a photo taken and send it through email or text message. I could use this at work to take a photo and circle something in the photo that I'm wanting the person to focus on...anyways, thought it was a good idea.

I would like a Keynote Player on the iPhone. Now that we have video out, I could use it to display keynote slides/files on a video projector or TV.

Also... "I want to learn to blow things up, with my mind." - "Freaky Student" in the movie, ACCEPTED.
