It's funny... I went yesterday to the Apple store to talk to a "Genius" about this "push" issues and he told me that the problem was Yahoo, and that they (Yahoo) are working on the "bugs" to fix this issue.Hello everyone. I just got done speaking with one of the Yahoo! Mobile Technology folks at Yahoo! and they were able to verify that this is a known issue in which the resolution lies with Apple. They have advised that the next iPhone software update from Apple is designed to fix these 'Push' issues that we're all encountering. Due to the severity of the issue this update will likely be coming soon so keep your eyes open.
The Yahoo push is working. You need to select POP and use the pop.mail.yahoo.com when you setup the mail account on iPhone. Do not use the preconfig Yahoo MAIL, use the other MAIL and set it up as POP.. Then, the push will work. However, this is only for paid yahoo account or other premium yahoo account. Free yahoo mail account does not offer POP service. It's funny... Hopefully somebody does something, this problem is ANOYING
I am having problems with the Yahoo push, so I tried your method. Did you set up the email with the Yahoo link thing in the settings, or did you set it up manually? Also, on the iPhone settings for mail do you have it set for auto check manually, every 15 minutes, or 30 minutes, etc? Thanks for the help in advance. I can live without the Push working, it just bugs the heck out of me that is does not! This works, I have tried it following the 1.1.3 iPhone update from 1/15/2008:
Delete then recreate account Go to the Settings application, tap Mail then tap your Yahoo! account and tap Delete Acount. Then go back to the Mail pane of Settings and re-establish your Yahoo! account. You may need to reset your iPhone again after doing this.
After this mails come in instantly to your iPhone via Yahoo Push. For some reasons Yahoo accounts configured on your phone prior to the iPhone update or launch of Yahoo Push will not realize the benefit. It is a slight annoyance to have to recreate accounts, but it does correct the problem.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to this. I set my mail up with the Yahoo link in Mail Settings. I used the 15 minute auto check, but with Push enabled my mail now comes through instantly. I find that some mail sources still have latency, but that is them sending to Yahoo. Test from a gMail account as I found it to be the fastest web-based mail delivery around.I am having problems with the Yahoo push, so I tried your method. If it makes a difference, I am using a yahoo account that is myname@mydomain.com , not the name@yahoo.com email address.
No problem on the delay. I appreciate the help. I think part of the problem is the Yahoo bizmail. I read on the Yahoo website that the bizmail is not a normal or regular Yahoo account. I set up my yahoo bizmail on my iPhone using the POP set up that Yahoo outlines. I then got my em on the iPhone, and it fixed the problem I had before where I could not send em from the iPhone. But with POP you cannot get all of your folders on the iPhone and it does not sync like my gmail IMAP. I was also getting lots of errorrs while using the em on my computer. I ended up totally deleting the yahoo account off my iPhone right now. I wrote an em to Yahoo bizmail support. Maybe they can help.Sorry for taking so long to get back to this.
